Josh Allen leads winning race through snow to beat Dolphins for playoff spot

The highly anticipated second game of the season between the Miami Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills saw the exact opposite weather this time in upstate New York versus the Sunshine State.

The result? A victory for the local team in its cold elements.

The Bills clinched a playoff berth for the fourth consecutive season, beating rival AFC East 32-29 to improve to 11-3 this season.

The blizzard started late in that game, and it was tied 29-29 when Miami returned the ball to the Bills. Allen and the offense took over and drove 15 field plays, killing the rest of the clock to set up a short Tyler Bass field goal.

As the Buffalo players cleared snow from the intended spot for the kick, Bass hooked it from 25 yards to the win.

To tie the game, however, the Bills had to cut the field down an eight-point deficit, knowing that a potential two-point conversion was needed if a touchdown was scored. Allen was able to find Dawson Knox for that touchdown, but on the two-point conversion he forced him off the ground, simply smashing the plane to tie him up.

BILLS FANS THROW SNOWBALLS TO CELEBRATE THE FIRST TOUCHDOWN VS. DOLPHINS

Allen would finish the game with 304 yards through the air and four touchdowns, while rushing for 77 yards on 10 attempts.

The snow that fell before the game invited snowballs tossed onto the field by Bills fans in this one, and the umpires didn’t have it after a couple of Buffalo touchdown celebrations, involving flurries from them from the stands. The show also mentioned some fans throwing them onto the Dolphins sideline, to which the referees delayed the game and threatened them that thrown snowballs would result in a 15-yard penalty for the Bills.

Allen’s first of those touchdowns was also a first for rookie tight end Quintin Morris, who landed a 14-yard pass to make it 7-3.

After the Dolphins responded with another field goal to shoot within one, the Bills went 12 plays and 75 yards for a Nyheim Hines touchdown — his first with the Bills since being traded from the Colts. Indianapolis.

But Miami would eventually enter the end zone after three trips to the red zone thanks to Salvon Ahmed, who had his first rushing touchdown of the season, an 11-yard run to cut the Bills’ lead again.

Buffalo would respond with James Cook scoring a four-yard receiving touchdown from Allen, making it 21-13.

Again, the Dolphins came right back with a touchdown, as Jaylen Waddle broke free of Bills defensemen and rushed 67 yards for the score.

Then it was their turn to take the lead. Tyreek Hill got one of his own, a 20-yard score to make it 26-21.

A field goal after an Allen tape sack made it 16 straight points the Dolphins scored, but the Bills never faltered. In the end, they knew they could kill a clock in the snow and set the winning score.

Usually, Stefon Diggs is Allen’s best receiver, but Knox won it with 98 yards on six receptions, his longest rush catcher of 45 yards. Diggs finished with 60 yards on five receptions.

In the passing game, Waddle’s big touchdown contributed to his record 114 yards on just three catches. Hill had 69 yards on nine catches.
