Streamer bans are one of the most talked about topics in the community. Each year, several creators are banned, temporarily or indefinitely, and the last 12 months have been no different.

Throughout 2022, several streamers found themselves at the thinning point. As the year enters its final week, this article will feature five creators whose bans have had the community talking.

5 streamers bans that caused the talk in 2022

1) JiDion is banned for inciting fans to spam

Popular American streamer Jidon “JiDion”, now of YouTube, was one of the first major content creators to be warned by Twitch in 2022. He was permanently banned for violating the platform’s Terms of Service.

In January 2022, the streamer allegedly incited his fans to spam the phrase “L+Ratio” on Pokimane’s Twitch stream. However, the whole ordeal was scorned when JiDion took to her social media to apologize. Although he was initially given a 14-day ban, it was revised to be permanent shortly afterwards. Though Pokimane and JiDion reconciled after their conflict, Twitch did not overturn their decision.

2) Twitch Streamer Kimmikka Gets Banned For Having Sex* On Live Stream

While there are a number of ways to get banned from Twitch, being suspended for having sex while streaming is unconventional. On Aug. 24, a streamer named Kimmikka was seen having a rather intimate moment with her partner, who remains unknown. This resulted in his temporary ban.

Her story quickly made the news as clips of her engaging in the act were shared on social media. She, however, returned to Twitch just a week after her ban. After the controversy, she blamed alcohol for what happened during the live stream.

3) Greekgodx is banned for racist gesture

Controversial online personality and streamer Dimitri “Greekgodx” is no stranger to receiving bans. In July of this year, a month after his first ban of 2022, he was suspended from the platform after an IRL broadcast showed him making racist gestures towards a group of individuals – allegedly Asian – as he walked past them on the sidewalk.

Dimitri denied any accusations of racism, claiming he was just making “noises” taken out of context. His ban lasted a few weeks. For those wondering, he broadcasts regularly, albeit to a dwindling audience.

4) Destiny banned for unknown reasons

Twitch streamer and political commentator Steven “Destiny”, who now streams on YouTube, was kicked out by Twitch on March 23. At the time of his ban, he had over 650k followers on the purple platform. The exact reason for Twitch’s decision, however, remains a mystery to the community.

During a YouTube broadcast, the streamer himself confessed that he didn’t know the reason for his abrupt suspension, making it a highly debated topic. This isn’t the first time he’s been banned from the purple platform. In 2020, the streamer lost his Twitch partner role after he appeared to “promote violence”.

5) True Geordie banned for “Islamophobic” comments

UK podcaster and YouTuber Brian “True Geordie” is the latest creator to join the ban list that has rocked the community. This streamer was banned for a week in November after he was found guilty of making racially insensitive jokes about Muslims.

For those unaware, the remarks stemmed from a reaction video about Andrew Tate converting to Islam. Speaking about the veracity of the latter’s conversion, Brian stated that Tate should “blow himself up” to prove his faith. Later that week, he made an apology video confessing his comments. The streamer has now been unbanned on Twitch.
